Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil, by Dan Pearce

“Let the world be consumed by sorrow.”

“Do you want to do MFG?,” I said.

“FINALLY…yes please,” replied 10 Second Ninja and Castles in the Sky developer Dan Pearce, knowing as if it was his life’s work to appear on this podcast. Or at least wait for his turn.

Anyways, tonight’s My Favourite Game – earlier than usual this week due to me being in London at the Games Media Awards for the show from tomorrow – takes a look back at a series that perhaps should have had a bit more legs than it got, if Dan has anything to say about it. Released in 2001, Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil is a 2.5D platform game that came out for the PlayStation 2, the first game launching in 1998 for the original PlayStation.

In this episode, we discuss the kind of influence Klonoa 2 has had on Dan’s development career, why he thinks playing the game has perhaps a newer meaning to it now than playing it as a kid and more.
